Defending Class A state champion Dickinson leads the top of the preseason coaches poll powered by Bobcat. Grand Forks Red River slots in at the two slot, while Minot picked up the second highest total of first place votes.
West Fargo, who will have new co-head coaches in Brooke Mears and Zach Page this season following the resignation of longtime head coach Pat Johnson, are ranked fourth in the opening poll. Bismarck High made a strong postseason run in 2024 and opens the 2025 season at No. 5.
The poll leans slightly to the West with six total WDA teams landing in the poll compared to four EDC clubs.
Defending champion Kindred-Richland opens the 2025 season ranked No. 2 behind Central Cass. Kindred-Richland topped Central Cass in the 2024 title game. Beulah is the top team in the west to start the year, slotting in at three, just in front of Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark. Thompson lands at the five spot.
Region 1 leads the way with four teams in the poll; Central Cass, Kindred-Richland, Hillsboro-Central Valley and Northern Cass. Two Region 2 clubs start in the top 10 with Thompson and May-Port-CG. Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark and Bottineau give Region 3 a pair of teams as well. Region 4 rounds things out with Beulah and Velva-Drake/Anamoose making the poll.
