These power rankings are a reflection of what has happened so far this season with a touch of expectations added in. These are meant to be taken as a fun talking point for softball across the state.
Tim's statewide power rankings will be released each Thursday, in advance of the weekly coaches polls. Records are based on what is reflected on the state website, WDA website and EDC website.
Minot holds steady at the top of the power rankings after an undefeated week. That included a sweep over state contender and conference foe Jamestown.
Last week: 1
Grand Forks Red River jumps to the runner up spot in the power rankings this week for two reasons. 1) They took care of business this week against Fargo North and state ranked West Fargo, and 2) Dickinson, who was at No. 2 last week, had a blemish on their record this week. and Sheyenne, who was at No. 3 last week, essentially ended up with an off week.

The Mustangs ended up with an essential bye week due to weather and scheduling. They are still one of the top teams in the state and have Grand Forks Red River, West Fargo and Minot on the schedule over the next eight days.

The Patriots may have had the best week of any team in either class both based on their own results and results of other games. They took down top ranked Class B Beulah and highly ranked Class B Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark. Days later, Beulah split a doubleheader with highly ranked Class A Beulah.

Dickinson has a pair of wins over the No. 1 team in the power rankings, but have a couple of slip ups along the way against Minot, Williston and now Beulah. The Midgets split a doubleheader with Beulah, dropping game one 8-4 before rebounding with a 6-0 win.

Beulah had one of the best wins of a the week with their 8-4 win over Dickinson before dropping game two. They were beaten, however, by May-Port-CG by a 3-1 margin. Their only three losses are now to Minot, Dickinson and May-Port-CG. They have nice wins over Dickinson, Kindred-Richland and Velva-Drake/Anamoose.
Last week: 5
Renville County is one of just two undefeated teams statewide (May-Port-CG is the other). They picked up a nice 9-2 win over Hillsboro-Central Valley last weekend. Their big test will be in the Midseason Madness May 10 & 11 when they get a rematch with Hillsboro-Central Valley and games against Kindred-Richland and Central Cass.

Mandan currently sits second in the WDA standings behind Minot. They have ranked wins over Jamestown and Bismarck. Top teams on their schedule the next two weeks: Williston (2), Dickinson (2), Grand Forks Red River, West Fargo Sheyenne, and Minot (2). We will know a lot more about Mandan in a couple of weeks.

West Fargo dropped a big test against Grand Forks Red River this week. They are another team, like Mandan, that has a lot of opportunity ahead of them with 16 games on the schedule in the next two weeks.

Thompson suffered a three game losing streak with two losses to Jamestown and a loss to Grand Forks Red River. Since then the Tommies have been on fire, scoring 85 runs during a four-game winning streak. The best win was a 4-3 victory over Kindred-Richland. Thompson is another team with a plethora of challenges ahead. They have scheduled games against Central Cass, May-Port-CG (2), Velva-Drake/Anamoose, Bottineau and Hillsboro-Central Valley, among others.
