Kirsten Galloway (Minot) held the East All-Stars at bay over 5 spectacular innings en route to a 5-2 victory for the West All-Stars. She allowed just one hit while striking out 8 over 5 innings. 

The West All-Stars started the scoring with a 3-run first inning. Taylor Christensen (Beulah) led off the game with a fly ball triple to left and came around to score one batter later when Caitlyn Dannenfelzer (Bismarck) hit an RBI single. Ellie Braaten (Renville County) singled to center to score a pair of runs with two outs in the first inning.

The score remained the same until the top of the sixth when the West All-Stars added a bit of insurance. Daisy Sparrow (Central McLean) singled to center to score Megan Weisbeck (Legacy) who had reached on a walk.

Weisbeck drove in a run of her own with a line drive single to left, scoring Braaten, with two outs in the top of the seventh. That run extended the West advantage to 5-0.

The East All-Stars put up a fight in the bottom of the seventh. Kyra Narum (Sheyenne) drove a two out double to center and came around to score on a single from Jada Nelson (Valley City). Catie Sinner (Central Cass) singled home Nelson to round out the scoring. 

The 5-2 win for the West All-Stars marked their seventh consecutive win in the SCHEELS Softball All-Star Series.

Galloway was named the Player of the Game by broadcast partner Your Live Event.

The West All-Stars broke open game two of the doubleheader with a five run fourth inning. Dannenfelzer lined a single that scored a run on an eventual throwing error. Baylee Berg (Dickinson) brought Dannenfelzer around with an RBI single two batters later. Braaten reached on an error bringing in another run. Brecken Bieber (Beulah) drove in a run with an RBI single. Olivia Passa (Velva-Draka/Anamoose) drove a sac fly to end the scoring for the inning and put the West in front 8-2.

It was the East All-Stars that jumped out to an early lead in game two. Narum doubled and eventually came around to score on a passed ball to make it 1-0 in the bottom of the first.

The West All-Stars evened the score in the top of the second. Braaten walked and scored two batters later thanks to a Passa line drive single.

The East nearly took the lead back in the bottom of the second, but Christensen had other ideas. Autumn McGough (Sheyenne) lined a two-out single to center. Christensen threw a perfect strike to home plate in time to beat the runner and end the inning.

The West took that momentum and grabbed their first lead of the game in the bottom of the second. Gabi Bird (Century) walked with one out and scored when Braaten lined a triple to right field. Bieber singled home Braaten on the next pitch to extend the West lead to 3-1.

The East scratched across a run on an error in the third inning, but the West fought right back with that big five-run fourth inning.

Braaten added a couple o insurance runs for the West in the fifth that would prove to be vital to the outcome of the game. She smacked a two-out, two-run single to make it 10-2.

Much like in game one, the East All-Stars did not go down without a fight. 

Nelson drove in two runs with a double after a walk and a hit batter. The next batter, Mara Lick (West Fargo), switched places with Nelson by driving her in with a double of her own. 

The biggest play of either game happened two batters later. Liz Nuelle (Grand Forks Red River) hit a laser to deep right field, only to be robbed by an incredible catch by Kaelyn Bachmeier (Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark). Two runs came around to score on the sacrifice fly, but the out was critical. 

With the score at 10-7 in favor of the West, they turned back to game one starter Galloway to save the game. The East would score their third run of the inning via sac fly when Avery Mohr drove a deep fly ball to center that Bird ran down.

Emma Johnson (West Fargo) was at the plate representing the winning run for the East All-Stars, but Galloway got her swinging to extend the West's winning streak to eight.

Braaten was named the Player of the Game by broadcast partner Your Live Event.

The annual All-Star Skills Competition will start at 4 p.m. with game three of the series set to start at 6 p.m. at Bismarck Legacy on Tuesday night.
