Kennedy Kuntz (Dickinson) led the way with 2 home runs and 8 RBI.

Game 1: West All-Stars 7, East All-Stars 5

Kassidy Duttenhefner had a busy Saturday that turned into a wild Monday. Hours before her Bismarck Demons took on West Fargo in the Class A state title game, she found out she was added to the 2019 West All-Star roster for the 2019 SCHEELS Softball All-Star Series to add pitching depth.

On Monday, she tossed a complete game to lead the West to a 7-5 victory over the East. It was the first win for the West in five tries since 2017. Duttenhefner finished with four strikeouts and no walks in the contest.

Former Dickinson Midget Kennedy Kuntz led the offensive attack for the west with two hits and five driven in. Her second inning grand slam was the first in all-star series history.

Jaycie Rostad (Minot), Sidney Lovelace (Bishop Ryan) and Phoebe Garman (Beulah) all added two hits in the contest.

Take nothing away from the East. Lexi Buhr (Central Cass) pitched a complete game in the circle and added a single game record four hits. Emma Johnson (Sheyenne) hit three singles in four at bats. Shanley's Gabby Nelson, who is committed to play Division II softball at St. Cloud State, blasted a home run.

Game 2: West All-Stars 10, East All-Stars 8

Lakyn Stork (Bismarck) and Rostad smacked back-to-back run scoring doubles in the top of the seventh to break an 8-8 tie. Stork came back out in the bottom of the seven and eventually picked up the final out of the game via strikeout.

Stork was the second Bismarck pitcher to pick up a win for the West on day one. She tossed three innings, allowing no runs on just 2 hits in relief of Lovelace. Lovelace struck out two and walked two in her four innings of work.

Both Kennedy Kuntz and Nelson went yard again for their respective teams while each side finished with 13 total hits.

Kennedy Kuntz, Kailey Weigel (Legacy), Lauren Gangl (Mandan), Garman and Lovelace all had two hits each for the West. Nelson, Kylie Washnieski (Sheyenne), Lauren Diemert (West Fargo) and Becca Thompson (Valley City) all had two hits each for the East.

Courtney Boll (West Fargo) toed the rubbed for the East, tossing a complete game and tallying seven strikeouts.

Game 3: East All-Stars 11, West All-Stars 6

A nine-run third inning propelled the East All-Stars to their first win of the 2019 SCHEELS Softball All-Star Series (5-2 all-time). Payton Richter (Central Cass) and Boll both belted long home runs to account for five of the nine runs. Richter became the first Class B player to hit a long ball in an all-star game.

Becca Thompson overcame a slot start with a dominating end. She finished with six strikeouts in the complete game victory.

Nelson led the offensive attack for the East, going 4-for-4 at the dish. Grace Scherr (Valley City) and Linster both added two hits for the East.

On the West side, Kennedy Kuntz, Stork and Gangl all had two hits a piece, while Maddy Steckler (Bismarck) added three hits.

Skills Competition: East All-Stars 27, West All-Stars 13

The East All-Stars used a prolific team effort in the modified home run derby to give the East their first team win in the skills competition. The West took the crown last year in Mandan.
